When the return of the Ford Ranger was announced several years ago, drivers all around the Mt. Airy, Woodbine, and Frederick, MD, areas jumped at the chance to check out this legacy truck. 2021 Ford Ranger Overview

Ford RangerThe 2021 model of Ford Ranger hit showrooms with lots of technology features, including the Ford SYNC® 3 infotainment system, which is among the better interfaces on the roads today. It also offers solid performance from its turbocharged engine and offers authoritative acceleration.

It also debuted a new Tremor Off-Road package that gives it the performance to tackle the trails with the best of them. A few new technology features and a ton of add-on packages give it a supreme level of customizability.


Trim Levels and Powertrain

Ford Ranger

The Ranger is available in three trim levels: the XL, the XLT, and the Lariat. Regardless of the trim level you choose, you'll get a turbocharged 2.3-liter 4-cylinder engine that cranks out 270 horsepower and backs it up with 310 lb-ft of torque. Each Ranger comes standard with rear-wheel drive and a shiftable 10-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive is available as an option.

The body is available as either an extended SuperCab with a 6-foot bed or a SuperCrew with a 5-foot bed.


Towing and Hauling Capacity

When you outfit the Ranger with the proper gear, it's capable of towing up to 7,500 pounds of trailer weight, so this truck is ready for whatever you want to pull along behind you.

It can also handle a payload of up to 1,860 pounds, so you can stash equipment, furniture, or anything you want in the bed.


Off-Road Capabilities

2021 Ford Ranger Off-RoadingThe 2021 model year sees the debut of the Tremor Off-Road package. Available at the top Lariat level trim, it offers a range of features that are designed to turn your Ranger into an off-road beast, capable of tearing up the trails.

You get additional ground clearance with skid plates to protect the underbody, larger all-terrain tires and wheels, upgraded off-road shocks and suspension package, and of course, extra hooks for towing.


Technology

Ford Ranger Interior Technology

As you'd expect from Ford, the Ranger offers a full technology package driven by the SYNC® 3 interface. Depending on which trim level you choose, you'll get features like power accessories, smartphone integration, a Wi-Fi hotspot, GPS navigation, heated power seats, and a litany of safety features. These include crash mitigation and warning, features to watch out for cross traffic and keep an eye on your blind spots for you, lane-keeping to stop you from drifting, and more.
