2021 Ford Explorer Power & Handling

Ford offers two engines for the Explorer lineup in the 2021 model year. The base engine is a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder that pumps out 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The second engine is a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that creates up to 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. Each Explorer model is outfitted with a 10-speed automatic transmission no matter the engine. Rear wheel drive is the standard drivetrain configuration while all-wheel drive is available for all trims except the Platinum where it is standard.

2021 Subaru Ascent Power & Handling

Each Subaru Ascent model is powered by the same engine in the 2021 model year. This engine is a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder that generates 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. Subaru mates this engine with a continuously variable automatic transmission and all-wheel drive comes standard with every trim level.

2021 Ford Explorer Features & Design

There are five trim levels offered in the Explorer lineup. The base model comes outfitted with an 8-inch touchscreen interface, tri-zone automatic climate control, a power liftgate, folding second- and third-row seats, a Wi-Fi hotspot, remote monitoring with a smartphone app, and Apple and Android smartphone integration. Standard safety features include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, frontal collision mitigation, trailer sway control, and lane keeping assist. The upper four trim levels add roof rails, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, keyless entry and ignition, leather upholstery, a wireless charging pad, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, second-row sunshades, navigation, adaptive headlights, sport front seats, front-seat memory functions, and sport front seats.

2021 Subaru Ascent Features & Design

There are only four Subaru Ascent trim levels offered for the 2021 model year. The base trim level comes with LED headlights, a 6-speaker sound system, three-zone climate control, a rearview camera, Bluetooth, Apple and Android smartphone integration, a manually adjustable steering wheel, and a 6.5-inch touchscreen. The upper trims add features like heated front seats, a power liftgate, an 8-inch touchscreen, a Wi-Fi hotspot, rear automatic braking, a power rear tailgate, navigation, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, ambient interior lighting, and LED fog lights.
