2021 Ford Explorer vs Chevy Traverse Mt AIry MD
2021 Ford Explorer vs Chevrolet Traverse
Here at Century Ford, we understand that picking out the best SUV for you and your family can be hard. There are so many makes and models to choose from, and it can be time-consuming to go over each one's features and engine options. This is where we come in! We have compared two of the best SUVs out there, the 2021 Ford Explorer and the Chevy Traverse so that your decision will be a little easier. For the answer as to which one has the best engine options and features, continue reading!
2021 Ford Explorer Power & Handling
There are two impressive and powerful engines available for the 2021 Explorer. Many trims come with a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder that delivers a remarkable 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Are you looking for a little more power? The ST gives it to you with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with a mind-boggling 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. Both of these engines pair nicely with a ten-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel-drive, and you do get an option of all-wheel-drive if you prefer. All-wheel-drive comes standard on the Platinum.
2021 Chevrolet Traverse Power & Handling
There is only one engine available for the Chevy Traverse, but it's a decent engine with some nice power. It's a 3.6-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque, which pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The Traverse offers you front-wheel-drive with the option of four-wheel-drive on every trim except the base Traverse L. While we enjoy these power numbers, they do pale compared to what the Ford Explorer offers, especially when you stack it up against the turbocharged V6.
2021 Ford Explorer Features & Design
There are five amazing trim levels available for the 2021 Explorer, and each one comes with a ton of standard features. Leading off the lineup is the Base trim, which comes with a power liftgate, tri-zone automatic climate control, a power-adjustable driver's seat, an in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The XLT adds to this with roof rails, keyless ignition/entry, heated front seats, and second-row USB ports. If you're looking for luxury features, you'll find them with the Limited, which has interior ambient lighting, leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, a wireless charging pad, and a 12-speaker audio system. More sporty features can be had with the ST trim, such as paddle shifters, sport front seats, and an automated parking system. The Platinum rounds out the features list with adaptive headlights, a digital gauge cluster display, and a Class 3 Trailer Tow package.
2021 Chevrolet Traverse Features & Design
Seven trims are available for the Traverse, and while there are some interesting features here, though less than what the Explorer offers. Kicking things off is the base L, which has 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, heated outside mirrors, cloth upholstery, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims of the Traverse such as the LT Cloth and the LT Leather come with more luxury features such as foglights, roof rails, a power-adjustable driver's seat, heated front seats, a remote engine start, an 8-inch touchscreen, and rear parking sensors. The highest trims of the Traverse, the RS, Premier, and High Country give drivers a heated steering wheel, 20-inch dark finishing wheels, ventilated front seats, wireless device charging, a hands-free liftgate, and a panoramic sunroof.
Conclusion:
While there is a lot to love about both of these SUVs, we will give the edge to the 2021 Explorer. The Explorer comes with more powerful engines than the Traverse, and the five trim levels give you more features than the Traverses seven.
