Ford Escape DrivingThe Escape comes in models S, SE, SEL, and Titanium. The S starts with cloth upholstery and a SYNC® infotainment system with Ford’s Co-Pilot360™ driver-assistance suite of safety features. From there, you’ll get the upgraded SYNC® 3 infotainment system, a sharp system with highly intuitive menu options, and both Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration, a feature that lets you stream media and music from your phone. There’s also a package for the SE, which offers comfort features like dual-zone climate control and a rear-seat armrest.

Moving up through the trim levels, the Escape gets more and more luxurious. The SEL builds on the previous features with a heated steering wheel, a hands-free, foot-activated liftgate, and synthetic leather upholstery. The range-topping Titanium model offers the best of Escape safety and technology, including a Bang & Olufsen premium sound system, wireless device charging, and a full suite of semi-autonomous safety technology with the Co-Pilot360™ Assist+.

The Escape offers a series of turbocharged engines, starting with a 1.5L EcoBoost® that produces 190 lb-ft of torque and 181 horsepower. The uprated option is a 2.0L EcoBoost® that produces 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Both engines use an 8-speed automatic transmission.

When properly equipped, the Escape can tow up to 3,500 pounds. For around-town driving, the Escape offers a smooth ride quality that isn’t upset by road imperfections, and it takes on curves and turns with poise. Front-wheel drive is standard, though all-wheel drive is optional.

The Escape offers seating for five people in roomy, comfortable seats with plenty of head- and legroom. The rear seats can slide forward and down for better passenger or cargo configuration. Cloth upholstery is standard, but synthetic or genuine leather upholstery is optional. Other comfort features include heated and power-adjustable front seats and a heated steering wheel.

With the rear seats up and all the way back, the Escape offers 33.5 cubic feet of space, but you can get more space by sliding the rear seats forward to expand the cargo area to 37.5 cubic feet. With the rear seats folded flat, the maximum cargo capacity is 65.4 cubic feet, which outperforms many of its competitors.
