2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E: Power & Handling
The Mustang Mach-E comes with an electric motor that, on the base trim, has a battery system that on the standard range, produces 68 (kWh) of usable energy. Perhaps more integral to the performance of the model are the powertrain options: rear-wheel drive (RWD) and electronic all-wheel drive (eAWD). You’ll begin to see the difference when we discuss power outputs.
The standard range setting produces 266 horsepower on both powertrain options, which is convenient for all drivers. However, it does change as we start discussing torque. With the RWD configuration, you’ll achieve 317 lb-ft, while with eAWD, it climbs to 428 lb-ft of torque.
When it comes to range, on a full charge, the EPA-estimate for RWD is 230 miles, while eAWD clocks in lower at 211 miles. Performance-wise, the RWD option can net you 0 to 60 MPH in 5.8 second; the eAWD does it in 5.2 seconds.
2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E: Infotainment
The introduction of the Mustang Mach-E brings with it an upgraded release of the SYNC® technology system. Now called SYNC®4A, it provides enhanced features such as:
- Increased screen options, ranging from 8 inches to 15.5 inches
- Available Enhanced Voice Recognition for access to cloud-based conversational voice commands
- Ford Power-Up software updates to utilize the cloud to download necessary updates right to your vehicle
- Available connected navigation, which can provide stats on the weather, construction occurring on your route, real-time traffic information, and more
- Wireless access to smartphone integration, including features like Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and SYNC® AppLink®
An additional feature that we feel is great is that now you can turn your phone into a key using the FordPass™ app. It’s as easy as connecting your personal phone to your profile in the SYNC® settings menu. With this, you’ll be able to lock or unlock doors and start or stop your vehicle remotely.
2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E: Cargo Space
The Mustang Mach-E has a few different options when it comes to bringing your materials for the next adventure. The front trunk has a measurement of 4.7 cubic feet, meaning your bits and bobs can easily be stored in there.
With your larger items, it primarily depends on how many passengers you have with you. If you have occupants in the second row, you’ll have access to 29.7 cubic feet of storage. However, if it is you and a secondary passenger, then you can open that space up to 59.7 cubic feet behind the first row.
